Thunderbird 1
The Thunderbird-1 was designed by Anderson/Meddlings and originally presented in the TV movie Thunderbirds are GO in 1965.

Thunderbird. Even the name sounds exciting! And starting with Thunderbird 1, a nuclear powered hypersonic ramjet, is the beginning of an exciting series. As shown in the movie, the Thunderbird 1 is good for speeds up to mach six.

It also has chemical rockets for vertical takeoffs and landings. It has retractable wings which you may extend or retract for any required maneuvers. Although Thunderbird One is technically not a spacecraft it is a nuclear powered hypersonic ramjet with all the major characteristics.

However her shape is the same as that of other spaceships of the era. It is technically interesting to note that it has folding wings and the ability to take off and land horizontally like a Harrier Jump-Jet.

During the television series Thunderbirds by Gary Anderson, the Thunderbird one is usually dispatched to the scene of an incident to gather first-hand information, data, and status of the incident. Since the Thunderbird one has the ability to launch vertically and land horizontally or vertically it is a versatile craft that can be used in many instances for many situations.
