Docking Bay 46
Transport Rocket
This Spaceship was designed by J. Macmillan Johnson and was originally seen in Movie: Conquest of Space in 1955.
.
.
Although we can assume that the same entire three stage ferry rocket design from the Colliers proposals would have been used in the film, the only portion that we get to see is the third and last stage that reaches orbit. The Transport Rocket is shown bringing one of the main characters up to the Space Station to begin the main action sequence.
.
.
From what we see, it looks very similar to the latest Disney version of the final stage of the ferry rocket with delta wings and a streamlined fuselage. It is obviously designed for winged reentry back into the atmosphere.
.
We only get to see it for one short moment in the movie when it arrives at the space station. Too bad that its screen time is so short as it is an attractive delta winged glider.
