Space Station The Wheel
This Space Station was designed by J. Macmillan Johnson and was originally presented in George pal's movie: Conquest of Space in 1955. Here once again we see the circular space station design. In the movie, it is called, “the Wheel.”

This time the design is somewhat changed. Here it is a three spoke wheel with an extended hub. One of its interesting features is that it still uses the same Mercury boiler reflector system to generate electricity that von Braun proposed. The spheres above and below the rim are intended to be observatories.
.
While it closely follows the same design as the earlier von Braun circular space stations it appears to have elements of both the Disney and von Braun versions. A landmark creation in itself it would be the closest many people would ever come to the real thing in motion.
.
Also interesting were the many interior shots and various details of the inside of the station shown during the movie. We are also get to see its reaction to a meteorite strike --a situation where the station goes out of balance.
All in all it's quite an exciting time in this ‘the wheel’ of a space station.
