Docking Bay 44
Space Ark
The Space Ark was originally presented in When Worlds Collide in 1951.
.
When the Earth is about to collide with another planet and destroy everything, what more appropriate vehicle than a spaceship "Ark" to save the remnants of humanity and the animal kingdom? Thus the Space Ark in "When Worlds Collide" by George pal came into being. As mankind faces its last days in existence the struggle to build, test, and fly a ship which is our last hope makes for very intense drama.
.

.
The Space Ark itself is a design that is close to all the other spaceships seen on the silver screen during the ‘Golden Age of the Spaceship”. Its main difference is its size. Where other ships are measured in inches, this one is measured in feet. With a streamlined body, swept back wings and triangulated tail, it is a shape that one easily remembers.
.
It is one of the few winged spaceships that not only makes good use of its wings, during the movie, consideration is actually given to how much fuel it has versus how much weight it carries. Most spaceships in entertainment never give the fuel gauge a second glance.
.
Even today the effect of this giant spaceship is still seen in movies. Whether you admire streamlined spaceships or not, one cannot help but admire the Space Ark’s beauty.
