For the Disney series, Von Braun proposed a much reduced version of his earlier ‘round the moon craft. Now, in order to make the first trip around the moon, he proposed using an upper stage of his ferry rocket, modified with a cluster of seven additional fuel tanks and a docking apparatus for a Bottle suit attached to its fuselage. This was a much more frugal approach than what had been proposed earlier

This ship would carry four men in a history-making mission around the moon. One interesting feature was its long spike at the nose with a triangular shield on it. This was described as an atomic reactor with shielding to prevent radiation from affecting the crew. The designer knew that a substantial amount of electricity would be required for the extended duration of the trip and this was his proposed solution. There was no explanation has how the reactor would be able to be so small. This points out the difficulty in providing electricity for the long trip with the technology then available.
.
Still, due to the immense detail of the model, when this ship was shown on television it in 1955, it was a very realistic demonstration of the technology required for the achievement of a voyage around the Moon.
